LOVING WIFE, MOTHER, GRANDMOTHER, SISTER AND AUNT
Zelda Koehler Johnson Nagode, 89, Loves Park, died at 11:25 PM, Sunday, July 13, 2008 in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Born September 5, 1918 in Sublette, IL. , daughter of Frederick H. and Emma M. (Hildman) Koehler. Married Harold K. Johnson on October 27, 1951 and he died August 20, 1963. On September 1, 1979 she married George J. Nagode and he predeceased her on August 30, 1995. Member of St. Bridget Catholic Church and former member of St. James Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar amp; Rosary Society. Zelda had also been an active member of the Dominic Club. She previously worked at the U.S. Post Office in West Brooklyn and then in the business office at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. She had been a bookkeeper for American Insurance Co. and retired from Dixon Automatic Tool. Zelda was a huge Chicago Cubs and Bulls fan and loved to play cards. She thoroughly enjoyed her years at Park Tower and her many friends there. She was always a gentle spirit who never saw a need to complain or say anything negative. Survivors include her loving children, Dan (Mary Jo) Johnson, Rockton, Julie (John) Rosenbaum, Loves Park and Tom Johnson, Rockford; 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; niece, Sandra (Bob) Walk; step-children, Richard (Maggie) Nagode, James (Betsy) Nagode, Judy (Fred) Rensinghoff and numerous step-nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husbands, parents, brother, Gerald (Ella) Koehler and sister, Lolita (Ignatius) Durbin. Funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 18, 2008 in St. Bridget Catholic Church with Rev. David E. Beauvais officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday in Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Road with a rosary to be recited at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family and condolences may be extended at www.fitzgeraldfh.com.
