William T. Durkee

Rockford-William T. "Bill" Durkee, 66 died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011 at Rockford Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born April 5, 1944 in Hillsboro, WI, the son of Bernard and Lillybelle (Gordon) Durkee. Graduate of Belvidere High School and went on to drive truck for Cassens, Rockford Products and after retirement for Ryder. He married his loving wife, Marcia Edwin on June 1, 2002 in Rockford. Bill enjoyed golfing, fishing and NASCAR and was a member of the Moose Club and the Venetian Club. The family would like to extend a sincere and heartfelt thank you to OSF Cancer Center and RMH Cancer Center. Bill was a wonderful man and a good friend; he will be greatly missed by all. Survivors include his wife, Marcia; sons, William "Bill" (Lori) Durkee, Jr. and Danny Durkee; daughters, Debbie (Kerry) Holeton and Krissy (Chris) Buss; stepchildren, Jim Edwin and Michelle (John) Morris; grandchildren, Mia and William Durkee III, Kreg and Kerry Holeton II; Ben and Brandon Buss and step grandchildren, Alyssa and Bryanna Morris; sister, Linda Durkee and his beloved K9 companions, Shelby and Kylee. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Tom and sister, Rita. Memorial service Monday, Jan. 17, at 5:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Riverside chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. Visitation from 3:00 p.m. until time of service in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials to the family for a fund to be established at a later date.
