William “Bill” R. Coon, 81
Rockford-William “Bill” R. Coon, 81, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2016 in his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born February 28, 1935 in Thomson, IL, the son of Robert E. & May (Spencer) Coon. Lived most of his life in Rockford, coming here from Savanna. Bill worked for the Iron Workers Local Union 498, retiring in 2000, and just recently received his 60 year pin. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War. Bill enjoyed antiques, flea markets, going to shows at the fairgrounds, and he enjoyed gardening.

He is survived by sons William E., Randall S., and Ronald L. Coon; 4 grandchildren Misty Lego, Billy (Maria) Coon, Joe (Christina) Coon, and Kristy Coon. Many great grandchildren and brother Robert (Irene) Coon. He is preceded in death by parents, sisters Gladys Quinlin and Betty Wright, and daughter in law Rose Coon.
Service will be 11 am Monday, May 23, 2016 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory with a visitation from 10 am until time of service. Burial in Lower York Cemetery in Thomson, IL.
