William J. Townsend

William J. “Bill” Townsend, 70, of Monroe Center, died Sunday, January 25, 2015 in his home with family at his side. He was born on November 8, 1944 in Rockford, the son of Robert and Helen Townsend. Married his loving wife Betty Lilja on May 6th, 1967 in Rockford, IL. Bill worked for 30 years at Chrysler as a material handler. He was the family's Mr. Fix it who worked on cars and enjoyed wood working. Bill was a true friend to many and cherished the time he spent with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; children, Michelle (Jim) Forth, Wendy (Mike) Wold, Tara (Stephen) Behling; sister, Sharon (Larry) Terrell; brother, Bob (Sandy) Townsend; grandchildren, Jareth, Jonathan, Kaylin, Ashley, Maddisen, Andrea, Heather, and Aiden; 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Helen Townsend and sister, Pat Kosin.
Memorial visitation will be held Friday, January 30, 2015 from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd. In lieu of flowers memorials to the family for a fund to be established. Express online condolences at: www.fitzgeraldfh.com
