William H. Knight

William Henry Knight, 80, of Machesney Park, passed away at home on Monday, October 12, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born in Trenary, MI, on September 24, 1935; son of George and Lillian (Wright) Knight. Bill worked as a Draftsman Engineer for Rockford Products from 1952 to 1997, retiring after 45 years. He loved and enjoyed the outdoors, especially snowmobiling, jet skiing, fishing and camping. Bill also loved going to car shows and riding motorcycles. Most of all, Bill loved his family and friends, and spending his time with them. Bill was loved dearly, and his family will miss him always.
Bill is survived by his sister, Betty Wescott; children, Jeff & Sheila Knight, William A. Knight, Mary & Rod Hagemann; 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents; brother, George Knight; and brother-in-law, Charlie “Chuck” Wescott.
Bill’s funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 16, 2015; at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 3910 N. Rockton Ave., Rockford, IL, 61103; with Reverend Dean Parker officiating. Burial will follow immediately to Willwood Burial Park. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of service on Friday. Memorial donations may be made to Bill’s family to be determined at a later time. Funeral arrangements cared for by Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel.
