William “Boyd” Glovier, 81, of Rockford, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2022. He was born January 8, 1941 in Dante, Virginia, the eldest son of Walter and Cosby (Dingus) Glovier. He married his sweetheart, Barbara Ann Worley on March 28, 1961 in Virginia. Boyd served in the U.S. Army, serving overseas in Germany. He worked for Chrysler Assembly Plant for over 35 years. Boyd enjoyed sitting on the front porch, people watching with Barb, whittling wood, catching frogs and watching the Seattle Seahawks. He was extremely loving and caring, and cherished his grandkids and great grandkids.
Boyd is survived by those who loved him most, daughter, Robin Glovier; grandchildren, Amber Glovier, Trevor Glovier, Kayla (Michael) Lender, Skyler Glovier and Robert Glovier; great grandchildren, Zachary Savage, Ariah Glovier, Kaleiah Lender, and one on the way, Delaney Lender; siblings, Belva Perry, Ruth (Jay) Perry, and Jim (Phyllis) Glovier; sister-in-law, Nancy Glovier; daughter-in-law, Sally Glovier; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents, wife Barb, two children, Gary and Tonia Glovier; and two siblings, Bernard (Shirley) Glovier and David Glovier.
A public visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 from 10:00 – 11:00 am, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford 61108. A graveside service will follow the visitation at Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to be established at a later date.
