William "Bill" R. Forsen

Bill Forsen, 86, of Rockford, IL, was promoted to glory on Friday, January 26, 2024. He graduated from West High School in 1957 and served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963. Bill married his loving wife, Kay (Kjell) Forsen on April 26, 1975. Bill worked for ComEd for thirty years and retired in January 1994. Bill was a long-time member at Broadway Covenant Church where he served in many ways.

During his retirement years, Bill volunteered out in the community in numerous organizations. He enjoyed working at Habitat for Humanity, Salvation Army, and the Ken Roc Senior Center. In recognition of all his volunteer work, Bill was chosen as the 1998 Super Senior of the Year.

Bill and Kay looked forward to going to Minnesota every summer and to Phoenix every spring and fall to visit family and friends. They also traveled six times to Norway and Sweden. Bill sang in the YMCA’s Retired Club, the Swedish Men’s Chorus Svea Soner, and the Norwegian Men’s Chorus.

Bill is survived by his loving wife Kay, brother-in-law Dave (Mary Jo) Kjell, niece Deb (Lee) Tanner, nephew Steve (Jenny) Kjell, great-nephews Marshall, Sam, and Luke.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Broadway Covenant Church located at 3525 Broadway, Rockford, IL 61107.
