William (Bill) Noorlag III passed peacefully in his sleep February 8, 2018 at the age of 79. Bill was born on March 17, 1938 in Chicago to Bertha and William Noorlag Jr. He attended Chicago Christian High School, where he developed his love of music with a trio called the “Hillfloppers”. His love of music was only challenged by his love of cars which would become a lifelong obsession. He, along with his family were active members of Calvary Reformed Church in his youth. Bill went on to attend Hope College in Holland, Michigan, where he was a member of the Cosmopolitan fraternity, and met his future wife Nancy. After Hope, he went on to graduate from the College of Advanced Traffic in Chicago. Bill and Nancy were married in 1961. He served in the US Army before beginning a long successful career in the transportation industry, following in his father’s footsteps. Bill relocated from Chicago to Michigan, to Indiana, and back to Chicago. Always making friends and touching lives along the way. He left a “footprint” wherever he landed, and had an excellent work ethic that inspired others. In 1979 Bill made his last move and settled his family in Rockford, Illinois. He became a member of the Rockford Barbershop Chorus and remained active 35+ years. Rockford was also the place that he started his own trucking business, Lock, Stock, and Barrel Express. Bill was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and served as a deacon. In retirement he continued to work first delivering flowers for Pepper Creek and then delivering (shuttling) people at Napleton. He either had something positive to say, words of wisdom, or stories to make you laugh or make you smile. He was always the life of the party, and more concerned about you than him. If you had a chance to know him you are blessed, and probably a better person for it. Survivors include his wife Nancy; sister, Karen VanderWagen (John); children, Cyndi (Tim) Wolffis, Tami (Trace) Hendrickson, William Noorlag IV; grandchildren, Tanner and Tatum Hendrickson, Kendall and Kirk Wolffis. The family would like to thank Alden Park Strathmoor and Family Centered Hospice of Palatine for all their loving care.
