William "Bill" E. Lyons

William (Bill) Edward Lyons Sr, of Rockford Illinois, passed away peacefully in his home on November 27, 2024.

He was born on May 2, 1938, in Jacksonville Illinois, parents Lee and Pansy Lyons. On July 8, 1957, William married the love of his life Sharon Lyons (Wilkinson) in Hernando, Mississippi. The two of them enjoyed 67 years of marriage, building the family full of love and memories.

William worked for over 4 decades between Elco and Camcar Textron, where he was a dedicated employee and a respected colleague.

He was a proud father of five children and cherished the role of grandfather and great-grandfather. Bill's family was the center of his life, and he took great joy in being surrounded by his loved ones.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his two beloved children, Carolyn Brown and Noel Lyons I; great-granddaughter, Kensington Lyons; and sons-in-law, Jim Brown and Eric Turner.

Bill leaves behind his devoted wife Sharon Lyons and their three surviving children, Tambra Turner, Eddie Lyons and Kimberley (Frank) Kittoe. Also leaves behind a large, loving family of grandchildren, Jason (Kim) Lyons, Noel II (Melissa) Lyons, Sharlett (Andrew) Kittoe Keip, Brandon Turner, Courtney (Braden) Warrens, Nicholas (Samantha) Turner, Clarissa (Scott) Fowler, Bradley Lyons, Steven Cruz (Lyons), along with 11 great-grandchildren.

Bill was known for his kindness, strong ethic, and unwavering love for his family and friends.

A private family service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Walter Lawson Children's Home on behalf of great-grandson Chase Lyons. Cremation rites have been accorded. Please share memories and condolences at www.fitzgeraldfh.com.
