William "Bill" Harold Starr

William “Bill” Harold Starr, 65, passed away June 2, 2020 in Rockford, Illinois. Born in Chicago, Illinois on March 23, 1955 he was son to Richard and Dorothy (Krumluvsky) Starr. A graduate of Morton West High School in 1973. Bill went on to marry Karen Hamberg on October 3, 1987 in Rockford Illinois. He also joined the Exelon (Comed) family for 40 years as a Senior Mechanic. He was also the Local 15 IBEW Union President and was president of the Forest City Home Owners Association. Bill enjoyed spending time outdoors, working on the yard, fishing or even spending time at his lake home in Wisconsin. An avid fan of the Chicago Cubs he went to two games a year and made a point of going to at least one game for the Chicago Bears. At least once a week he would go out with the guys from work (and Madison) forming his own Breakfast Club, they would also spend time playing cards. Bill was generous to a fault, he would help anybody that he could. He tried to live his life by the motto, “to whom much is given, much is expected.”
He will be missed by those who loved him most, his wife of 32 years, Karen; his brother James Starr; sister Linda (Jim) Salek; his brother-in-law Rich (Marge) Hamberg; sisters-in-law Nan Starr, Della and Paula Hamberg; his five nieces and five nephews; his three great nephews and one great niece. He was predeceased in death by his parents, brother Robert Starr and brothers-in-law Charles and Robert Hamberg.
