The Scale Man
William “Bill” E. Milanos, 77, of Rockford passed away Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Rockford Memorial Hospital. Born October 27, 1937, in Hillsboro, Illinois, the son of Angelos and Rachel (Reichert) Milanos. Bill married the love of his life, Mary Stiles on October 12, 1957 in Rockford. Bill was a veteran serving in the United States Air Force for 4 years. After returning from the service, Bill worked at the Rockford Airport for Illini Airlines then went into the scale business working for Toledo Scale before starting his own business, Milanos Scale and Equipment. Bill was a volunteer fireman and Captain for West Suburban Fire Department from 1964 to 1974.
Survived by his wife, Mary; children, Donelda Milanos, William A. (Irena) Milanos, Toni (Jim Flahaven) Milanos and Christine (Jack) Mandala; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Stone, Mary Johnson and Pat Upshaw and special pal, Rosie.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Forest Hills Lodge, 1601 West Lane Road (Route 173), Loves Park, 61111, with a memorial service and dinner to follow.
