William “Bill” A. Schriver, 74, of Belvidere died Saturday, December 1st, 2018. Born August 28th, 1944, in Mauston, Wisconsin, the son of Harley and Mildred (Howland) Schriver. Bill was a courageous father who served in the National Guard for 8 years. He married our mother Mary Jo Buch on January 1st, 1966 at Fort Gordon Military Base in Georgia. Dad, ever the entrepreneur, opened his first store, Belvidere Coin and Stamp, over 42 years ago and dabbled in various other ventures along the way. As an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, he served on the church council, was a Eucharistic minister, usher and enjoyed social events as well. Dad was also a proud contributing member of the Belvidere Kiwanis Club for many years.
Dad graced the presence of all our lives with his humor, his awesomeness and his love. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Mary Jo; daughters, Kristin (David), Stephanie (Brian) and Marnie; grandchildren, Natalie, Daniel, Elena, Allie and Claire; siblings, Carol, Harley Dale and Sandy and his best buddy, Boston Terrier, Spanky. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Harvey.
Our dad had a personality almost as large as his physique, filling that hole in our lives will be impossible but we are blessed to have had a full life of stories and unconditional love from him. x We welcome you to come to his send off and celebration of life to share a story about him, God knows that BS is up there now telling his own stories.
Dads visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. and with the memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 4620 20th Street, Rockford, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church.
