William A. Salyer, 82, of Rockford passed away Sunday, February 10, 2019 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Born December 2, 1936, in Dante, Virginia, the son of Willie and Mollie (Fields) Salyer. He married Loretta Eddy and together they raised 3 daughters. Loretta predeceased Art in 2001 and Art then was married to June in 2005. He enjoyed camping with his family, fishing and gardening. He also enjoyed listening to Elvis and country oldies. He also was a fan of watching old westerns. Art was a Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan. He was a jack-of-all trades and was always helping with projects.
Survived by his daughters, Pam Moody, Janice Johnson and Christy (Jason) Pope; grandchildren, Shawn Letcher, Sherry (Ken) Holze, Cody White and Cheyenne Pope; great-grandchildren, Kiley and Kaden Holze; sisters, Jean (Ed) Phillips and Arlene Lucas; aunt, Betty Dougherty. Preceded in death by his wives, Loretta and June, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
A celebration of Art’s life will take place on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in Christy’s home.
