Wayne A. Weidner, 83, of Rockford passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2017. He was born on March 19, 1934 in Racine, WI, the son of Art and Melida (Manhke) Weidner. He served in the United States Army. On September 17, 1960 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, he married the love of his life, Noma Warnick. Wayne worked for IBM, JC Penny, Rockford and Belvidere newspapers, Castle Communications, and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. He was a proud member of the Rockford Choral Union, Gideon’s International, the Rockford Lutheran High School Board of Education, the Lutheran High School Foundation board, St. Paul Lutheran Board of Education, and the Rockford Symphony Chorus. Above all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.
He is survived by his wife, Noma; children, Kurt (Debra) Weidner, David Weidner, Mark Weidner, and John (Karen) Weidner; his grandchildren, Marcus, Nicholas, Trista, Lukas, Alyison, Megan, Lauren, Amber and Bryce; and his sister, Bethel Tuinstra. He is predeceased by his parents.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 4881 Kilburn Ave, Rockford, 61101. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 20, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel, and will continue Wednesday morning at church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Paul Lutheran School, Rockford Lutheran Schools, Gideon International, or the Rockford Choral Union.
