Sonnie Griffin, 77, Rockford, died at 9:35 a.m. Thursday, October 28, 2010 in Alpine Fireside Health Center.nbsp; Born February 13, 1933 in Palaka, Arkansas, son of Warren and Veda Thompson Griffin.nbsp; Married Neva Black in Palaka on July 15, 1954.nbsp; She died May 22, 2004.nbsp; He worked as a foreman in the cotton fields and then went to St. Louis to work for Wagner Electric. Rockford resident since 1955. He spent 35 years working at National Lock and retired in 1992 after spending 2 years at Elco Industries.nbsp; Member of U.A.W. No.449. Veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean Conflict.nbsp; Warren was a southern country boy at heart who had a great sense of humor.nbsp; He especially enjoyed going to Branson and the time he spent at Old Country Buffet.nbsp;
Survivors include his children, Gary (Dawn) Griffin, Teresa (John) Bolen and Patricia (Dale) Henthorn, all of Rockford; grandchildren, Melissa Griffin, Heather Bolen and Michael and Tyler Bolen; brothers, Terrill Griffin and Aubrey Griffin; sisters, Delores DeHollander, Lil (Russell) Barnes, Fern (Bob) Teachout, Lillian Braschler and numerous nieces and nephews.nbsp; Also predeceased by his parents and sister, Juanita.
