Vytautas “Vyt” V. Salucka, 88, of Rockford, passed away November 19, 2018 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Born July 4, 1930 in Lithuania, the son of Juozas & Marija (Jameikis) Salucka. Vyt married Silvia Zauka, in Rockford, at St. Peter & Paul Church, on January 7, 1956. Vyt worked as a draftsman at Twin Disc for forty years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the 17th Engineer Battalion (Combat) stationed in Germany from 1953-1955. Vyt was a longtime member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church and American Legion Rockford. Vyt volunteered at Wesley Willows and Presence Saint Anne Center for many years. Vyt enjoyed do it yourself home projects, woodworking, being outdoors, especially fishing, camping, bicycling, skiing and ice skating, being at the beach or just spending time at their place in Lake Mills, WI. Vyt loved dogs, loved to dance with his wife of 62 years and play the piano and the accordion with his family and friends. His loving and gentle spirit will be truly missed.
Survivors include wife, Silvia; son, Raymond (Ann) Salucka; daughters, Lydia Salucka and family, and Julia Salucka; grandchildren, Kathryn (Chris Bartolotta) Salucka and Maddy Salucka; brother Juozas Kestutis (Carol) Salucka, and numerous nieces and nephew. Predeceased by parents and son-in law Tom Meyer.
The family would like to give a special thanks to friend and compassionate caregiver, Mary Glenn, and the staff of Mercy Health Hospice for all their care and support.
Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 3, 2018 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2400 Bell Ave, Rockford, IL 61103. Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Mercy Health Hospice.
