Vivian G. Paul

Vivian G. Paul, 81, of Rockford passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2014. She was born in Chicago on July 3, 1932, the daughter of Andrew and Ruth (Helgesen) Hoagland. She graduated from Tuley High School class of 1950. She married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Bernard A. Paul on August 9, 1952. Together they shared 60 years of marriage until Bernard preceded her in death on April 14, 2012. Vivian worked in the family business for many years. She was a selfless person; always putting the needs of others first and always asked "What can I do to help?" She was a wonderful cook, had a terrific sense of humor and her continual smile was always followed by laughter. Vivian was devoted to her family and her Catholic faith; she was an incredible mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a dedicated member of St. Mary's Oratory and was a recipient of their Woman of the Year award.
She is survived by her loving children, Bernie (Deb) Paul, Mike (Sue) Paul, Joe (Nancy) Paul, Gary (Eileen) Paul and Tony (Jen) Paul; brother, Wayne Hoagland of Marinette, WI; 16 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents; husband, Bernie; grandson, Matthew Paul; brothers, Andrew Hoagland and Donnie Hoagland; sisters, Caroline Esquibel and Arlene Mazzacano.
Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 31, 2014 at St. Mary's Oratory, 517 Elm St. in Rockford. Entombment at Highland Garden of Memories in Belvidere. Visitation from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 1860 S.
