Vito S. DiGiovanni joined his son Philip, mother Bernice, father Vito, and brother Joseph in heaven on April 20, 2015. Vic attended Saint Anthony Primary School and graduated from Boylan Catholic High School and later received a degree from Rock Valley College, all of which he paid for by being a United States Postal worker. One of his passions and great achievements was his involvement and dedication to the USSSA softball league. He was an umpire who was inducted into the hall of fame in 1996 which was a monumental achievement. Vic was a dynamic man would lived life to the fullest he was an avid golfer, world traveler, amazing home chef, meticulous gardener, a loyal fan of the Bulls,
Bears, and White Sox, successful employee of Liebovich Steel for thirty years, a skilled snow skier, his knowledge of food and wine was second to none. He was able to regale people on his wonderful stories on the travels he took in life. He could transport you to any corner of the earth just by telling a story.
He was a gifted and talented man who will be missed by his soul mate Jackie Huffine, Nick DiGiovanni (son), Dave DiGiovanni (son), Tom (brother) and Barb DiGiovanni, Don (brother) and Kathy DiGiovanni, Floyd and Loretta (sister) Berg , Marylin Nonenmacher, and the countless friends, companions, confidants, and love ones that touched his life.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 24, 2015 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, with Rosary recited at 6:30 p.m. and will continue at church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. To express online condolences, please visit: www.fitzgeraldfh.com.
