Vito D. Giovingo

Vito D. (Vic) Giovingo, Jr., 56, of Rockford, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2009, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 13, 1952, to Vito and Marian Giovingo. Vic married Kate Leonard in 1980. Vic was Director of Sales and Marketing at GC Thorsen and later founded and was President of Interstate Marketing, a manufacturers representative firm servicing the electronics industry. Vic was an active member of Holy Family Parish, a graduate of Boylan High School (70), and an alumnus of Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa (74). Vic is survived by his wife, Kate; son, Vito (Shannon) Giovingo of Chicago; daughter, Marianne Giovingo of Elgin; sister, Carol (John) Taphorn and brother, Tom (Kathy) Giovingo; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at Holy Family Catholic Church with Msgr. Thomas E. Bales officiating. Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8p.m. with a rosary recited at 7:45p.m.on Friday, March 13, 2009 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, IL 61108. Visitation will also be held from 8:30 - 9:45am Saturday at he church. A memorial will be established by the family honoring Vics Catholic faith.
