Rockford—Virginia M. Spoden, 87 of Rockford died Friday, August 1, 2014 at Wesley Willows nursing home. Born April 16, 1927 in Rockford, Il daughter of Theodore and Nora (Meyer) Splinter. Married Gilbert J. Spoden in St. Patrick Catholic Church on April 3, 1948. Virginia worked for S & B Jig Grinding as the bookkeeper retiring in 2005. A member of St. Bridget Catholic Church.

Predeceased by her husband, Gilbert; Daughter, Pam Spoden, Granddaughter, Kim Seaberg; Brother, Joe Splinter; Sisters, Eileen Bracke and Juanita Finley. Funeral Mass 10:30 am Friday, August 8, 2014 at St. Bridget Catholic Church 600 Clifford Avenue, Loves Park, Il with Fr. Christopher DiTomo officiating. Burial in Sunset Memorial Garden Cemetery. Visitation from 6 to 8 pm, Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory (Riverside Chapel) 3910 N. Rockton Avenue. With Rosary Service at 7:45 p.m. Visitation will continue Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:15 Friday morning at church.
