Virginia M Small

Virginia M. Small, 95 of Rockford, died Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Rockford Memorial Hospital. She was born May 17, 1918 the daughter of John and Myrtle Bailey. She worked for several years at West High School in the cafeteria and in her spare time, after her children were raised and out of the home, she was a faithful volunteer. She gave her time as a Pink Lady at Rockford Memorial Hospital, Wesley Willows, River Bluff and Contact. Virginia was also a long time faithful member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and enjoyed time out for lunch with her friends and family. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt and sincere thank you to all of the staff on C4 at Rockford Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include her children: Carol (James Holmes) Abbott of Rockford, Terence (Marcia) Small of Rockford, Nancy (Dane) Medley of CA and Bradley (Andrea) Small of Pecatonica; grandchildren, Renee Small, Russell Johnson, Kim (George) Bohn, Richard Johnson, Tracy (Doug) Benson, Heath (Leigh) Stenberg, Amy (Jose) Garcia, Ryan Small, Erin Small, Cory Small, Brianna, Michael, Nathan MacKenzie; great grandchildren, Jennifer, Zack, Jessica, Lexie, Amanda, Ella and Tack and sister-in-law, Betty (Gene) Vallortigara; nephew, Bob (Jan) Nordstrom. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Funeral service Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Doug Williams officiating. Visitation Monday, January 27 from 4-7 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. and continues at church from 10 until time of service. Interment will be held in Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials to Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 4055 N. Rockton Ave. Rockford, IL 61103.
