Virginia L. Weisser

LOVING WIFE, MOTHER, AND GRANDMOTHER
Virginia L. Gyni Weisser, 60, of Rockford, died Monday, July 27, 2009, in her home surrounded by her family following a short battle with cancer. She was born September 19, 1948, in Mitchell, SD, the daughter of Erwin and Elizabeth R. (Stephenson) Asmussen. Gyni married Robert E. Weisser on August 31, 1968. She worked as a bookkeeper for several years. Gyni was an avid Bears fan, had a passion for reading, watching movies and TV and listening to music. Survivors include her loving husband of almost 41 years, Robert; son, Randall J. (Kim) Weisser; daughter, Rebecca M. (Jeff Bartscher) Simpson; grandchildren, Emilie and Jaxson Weisser, Jacob Simpson and Taylor and Ashley Bartscher all of Rockford; aunt, Stevie Della Pietra; cousins, Steve, Richard and Carlina Della Pietra, the entire Weisser family and numerous special friends. Preceded in death by her parents; sister, Brenda M. Asmussen and brother, Richard R. Asmussen.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, August 1, 2009, in Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL 61108. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation Friday, July 31, 2009, from 5PM until 8PM at the funeral home and from 9:30 AM until service time on Saturday.
