Virginia L. Higgins

Virginia L. Higgins, 84, of Rockford passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Swedish American Hospital. Born May 26, 1933, in O’Neill, Nebraska, the daughter of Willard and Imogene (Jensen) Arnold. Virginia married Alan C. Higgins in 1954. She was a Kindergarten teacher at P.R. Walker Elementary for 23 years, retiring in 1989. She was extremely good with children, influencing her family and students to be productive members of society. Virginia was a selfless and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her was a simple life, but lived to the fullest. Virginia and Alan liked to take Sunday drives with no destination in mind. She enjoyed playing cards and games with family and friends.
Survived by her children, David (Tracy) Higgins and Diane (Mike) Fischer; grandchildren, Bill Mosley, Michael Mosley, Melissa Mosley, Jeff Higgins, Scott Higgins, Brad Fischer and Katie Fischer; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Blythe; sister-in-law, Sandie Arnold, daughter-in-law, Carol Higgins and son-in-law, Pete Couture. Predeceased by her husband, Alan, son, Larry Higgins, daughter, Susan Mosley Couture and brother, Robert Arnold.
