Violet T. Zanocco, 92, of Rockford died peacefully Saturday, June 23, 2018. She was born April 7, 1926, in Rockford to George and Mary (Obertone) Naretta. Violet graduated from East High School in 1944 and worked at First National Bank before starting a family. She married Gerald Zanocco (Zanocco Brothers Grocery Store and Zanocco Ace Hardware) October 2, 1946. Vi enjoyed cooking and entertaining her family and friends. She excelled at needlework and built and decorated a two story Victorian dollhouse complete with photos of family members that enchanted her grandchildren and is currently enjoyed by residents at Siena on Brendenwood. Until recently Vi enjoyed meeting monthly with special friends—classmates from high school—almost 75 years of shared love, laughter and tears with her Club girls. Family will miss her and her wonderful Italian cooking.
Preceded in death by her husband, Gerald, in 2014, she is survived by sons Rick (Linda) and Dean (Diane); grandchildren Jennifer (Hector), Stephanie (Andrew), Courtney (Stefan), Kyle (Natalie) and Chad; great-grandchildren Gabriela, Lucas, Eliana, Claudia, Ava, Julia and Ezra.
