Victor Mandell

November 26, 1925 — April 5, 2014

Victor Mandell, 88, of Rockford, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 5, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was born in Rockford on November 26, 1925; the son of Frank and Jennie (Schiro) Mandell. Victor married Bonnevieve J. Anderson on June 9, 1956. He was a proud US Veteran serving his country in the Navy during WWII. Victor was the first employee hired by A.G. Bergstrom in 1949 and retired in 1992 after 43 years of service to Bergstrom Manufacturing. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and spending time with his grandchildren. Victor always looked forward to his fishing trips in Canada and winter trips in Florida. He was a member of First Evangelical Covenant Church, where he served as head usher for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bonnevieve; son, Mark (Donna) Mandell; daughter, Erin (Jim) Schwarzbach; sister, Marie Zandonai; grandchildren, Nathaniel, Jensen, Hannah, Austin and Erin. Predeceased by his parents; sisters, Antoinette Frisella, Marion Cuppini, Frances Cassioppi, Mamie Schiro and Caroline Rydholm; brothers, Tony and Joseph Mandell. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Heartland Hospice and Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center for their wonderful care.
Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 11, 2014 in First Evangelical Covenant Church, 316 Wood Rd. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2014 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd.
