Verona Marie "Ronnie" Gage

Verona Marie “Ronnie” Gage, age 95, of Rockford, IL passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2022.

Ronnie was born in Highland Park, IL on March 2, 1927, daughter of Anthony and Hermina (Haunschild) Klemp. She married Gus A. Gage on July 3, 1948 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Highland Park. Ronnie enjoyed knitting, sewing and painting in her free time. Most of all, she cherished the times spent with family and friends. She will be dearly missed.

Those left to honor Ronnie’s memory include her daughter, Karen (Bill) Spencer; grandchildren, Ross (Erin) Spencer and Blair (Carter) Brearley; great-grandchildren, Maggie, Fiona, Nora, Rhett, Graham and Wren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents and her husband, Gus.

A visitation and service will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2022 from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, IL 61108. Burial will conclude at a later date in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Highland Park, IL.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of River Bluff Nursing Home, especially those of the blue jay wing, for their kindness, care and compassion during their time with Ronnie.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Ronnie’s name to Heartland/Promedica Hospice of Rockford.
