Vernon "Mickey" Brown

Vernon “Mickey” L. Brown, 74, of Belvidere, died Friday, August 25, 2017 at Van Matre Health Center. Born July 27, 1943 in Belvidere the son of Frank and Doris (Poliska) Brown. Married his loving wife Bonnie Falkenstein. Mickey was the owner of Mickey’s Auto Body Shop in Belvidere and worked hard all his life. He was a member of the VFW, enjoyed working on lawn mowers, tinkering on things he could fix up and wood working. Mickey also found time to drive around and check in on everyone to be sure they were doing ok. He had a heart of gold and hardworking hands, he will be missed dearly. The family wants to extend a special thank you to the Wednesday Night Church Group and the Dr.’s and nurses at Van Matre Health Center.
Survivors include his wife Bonnie of Belvidere; son’s, Scott and Todd (Amy) Brown of Belvidere; step son, Chad Schabacker of CA., grandson, Sam and step grandsons, Tyler, Issac, Alex and Derek; sisters, Rhonda (Dan) Harris of Belvidere and Bobbi (Mike) Chance of Loves Park; numerous nieces and nephews and grand-dog, Bosco. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Celebration of Life/Open House to be held on Thursday, August 31, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. at Belvidere VFW, 1310 W. Lincoln Ave. In lieu of flowers memorials to the family for a charity donation to be determined. Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford chapel is assisting the family.
