Vernon H. Brenden, 63, of Cherry Valley, IL, passed away on May 27, 2021. Vernon was born in Eau Claire, WI, on September 12, 1957; son of Irving and Grace (Sivertson) Brenden. He graduated from Elk Mound High School in 1975 and then went on to get his Bachelor Degree in Computer Science at Northern Illinois University. Vernon married Arlene J. Myers on May 29, 1982 at Springbrook Church, Elk Mound. He was a loving husband and best friend to his wife Arlene. Vernon was a devoted father who raised two wonderful, caring sons. Vernon had a strong faith in Jesus Christ as his Savior and attended Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. He was an excellent singer and sang tenor in the choir at his childhood church. He loved reading and studying his bible. Vernon was a history buff and liked to learn about early American and Civil War History and was able to visit many Civil War sites. He enjoyed camping and boating and made lots of good memories with his two boys on Lake Donavan. Vernon was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. He was a generous man who donated to many charitable organizations that were near and dear to his heart. Vernon had an analytical mind and always thought about what he was going to say before he said it. Vernon will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Vernon is survived by his sons, Matthew Brenden and Michael (Sarah) Brenden; his siblings, Alan (Carol) Brenden, Ken (Shirley) Brenden, Cathy (Dennis) Johnson, Carol (Dave) Oas, Nancy (Jody Hoel) Brenden, Noel (Jennifer) Brenden and Sally (Randy) Larson; numerous nieces and nephews; his sisters-in-law, Barb Brenden and Christine Pennekamp; his brother-in-law, Kevin (Lisa) Myers, and his parents-in-law, Ray and Katherine Myers. He is preceded in death by his wife, Arlene, his parents, Grace and Irving Brenden and his brothers, Steve Brenden and Tom Brenden.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Carrie Totten for being a wonderful neighbor and friend to Vernon. Also thanks to Heartland Hospice and the Empower Health care team for all of their compassion and care.
There will be a Funeral Service for Vernon on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL 61108 with visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. until time of service. Inurnment will take place at Springbook Cemetery in Elk Mound, WI at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Vernon’s name to The American Bible Society, Salvation Army, or The Wounded Warriors Project.
