Vere L. Hageman of Rockford, formerly of Freeport, passed away Sunday, September 6 th at St. Annes Center after a short illness. Born August 19 th , 1924 in Walnut Grove, IL. He was the son of Clifford and Sadie(Lovell)Hageman. Vere married Mary A. Sargent December 26 th , 1948 in Freeport. Graduate of Freeport High School 1941. Veteran of World War II serving in Pattonss Army-10 th Armor Division. Graduated from Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois in 1950 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Employed by Honeywell/Micro Switch Freeport, National Lock-Rockford, Oak Industries-Crystal Lake and G.C. Electronics-Rockford. Was a member of Embury United Methodist Church, Freeport, Illinois. Enjoyed listening to jazz music, fishing and hunting along with watching his grandson, Adam, grow up.
Surviving is his son, Chad (Teresa)Hageman and grandson Adam Hageman, all of Caledonia.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary in January of 2006 and his parents.
Memorial service will be held Friday September 11, 2009 at 11am in Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rockford, IL., with Reverend Cindy Marino of Christ United Methodist Church officiating.
