Vera E. German, 94, of Rockford, previously from Jacksonville, passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2018. Born December 23, 1923, in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, the daughter of Howard and Floy (Barefield) Leffler. Vera married her best friend and soulmate, Louis German on August 26, 1940 in Hanibal, Missouri. She now joins him in Heaven. Together, they enjoyed traveling, camping and fishing. Vera worked at the book bindery in Jacksonville for 20 years. She was a wonderful homemaker and her family was always so important to her. Family never missed gathering in the German home as Vera loved hosting all the holidays.
Vera is lovingly survived by her daughters, Judith Osborne and Donna (Larry) Boes; grandchildren, Vicki, Kim, Julie, Brad and Brian; 7 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Boes and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, Louis and brother, Howard Leffler.
Graveside service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Diamond Grove Cemetery, 1601 Lincoln Avenue. Funeral services held in Rockford, Illinois on Friday.
