Velma J. Shoudy

Velma J. Shoudy, 89, of Rockford, passed away on Saturday, February 19th, 2022. She was born October 20, 1932, in Rochelle, IL. The daughter of William C. and Etta (Bunger) Kramer. Velma was a graduate of Rochelle High School. Velma married Richard W. Shoudy on Feb 1, 1959, in St. John Lutheran Church in Ashton, IL. She met Richard while working at Elco Industries and then worked as an administrative assistant at P.A. Peterson Home for many years. Velma was a member of Alpine Lutheran Church. She enjoyed traveling with Richard, especially to Disney World and Hawaii, spending time with her children and grandchildren and breakfasts at Stockholm Inn with her special friend Kathy.
She is survived by her children, Carolyn and Steven (Jean), granddaughter Crystal; daughter-in-law Deb; 3 step-grandchildren, Jason and John (Laura) Kovanda and Bernadette (Steve) Simard; 5 step-great grandchildren, Olivia, Sophia, Jaxon, Henry and Finley: sister-in-law, Elinor Mohler and sister-in-law, Janet Kramer and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased in death by her loving husband Richard, parents, son, David and brother, Ray Kramer.
Funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. Friday, February 25, 2022, in Alpine Lutheran Church, 5001 Forest View Ave., Rockford with Pastor Daniel Wynard officiating. Burial in Arlington Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. prior to the service in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Alpine Lutheran Church.
