Unso Midgley

Unso Midgley passed away peacefully at home in Rockford, Illinois on December 20, 2024, at the age of 90. Born on January 25, 1934, in the city of Bupyeong, South Korea, daughter to Young Ho and Soon Sil (Kim) Park. There she met her husband, Robert Midgley, and they journeyed to the United States in 1972, three daughters in tow to establish a new life. An avid gardener, Unso found immense pleasure in cultivating her plants, letting her love for nature flourish alongside her passion for cooking. She often brought her family together, sharing delicious meals that showcased her culinary talents. Known for her playful spirit, Unso also loved to play cards for money with her grandchildren, creating treasured memories that will forever remain in their hearts. In addition, Unso was enthusiastic about exploring the world around her. She loved road tripping with her husband before his passing, and still enjoyed making yearly trips to Las Vagas. She had a notable interest in casinos, enjoying the thrill of slot machines and the excitement of scratch-off lottery tickets.

She will be missed by those who loved her most, her daughters June Hale and Barbara (Richard) Dean; her grandchildren Jenna (David) Krantz, Krystal (Zack) Jole, Lauren Yomantis, Tyler (Daria) Yomantis, Jordan (Colleen) Gilman, Justin Gilman, and Jessica Cruz; numerous great grandchildren and the beloved nieces and nephews in the Park Family; she will be greatly missed by beloved pets Munchkin and Teddy Bear. She is predeceased by her husband Robert; her daughter Janet; her parents Young and Soon; five brothers, and many beloved family pets.
