Timothy Key, 71, of Caledonia, passed away surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with ALS on November 30, 2017. He was born on September 1, 1946 in Rockford, the son of Cyril and Betty Jane (Trank) Key. He proudly served in the United States Army where he was stationed in Germany. Tim was the first hourly hired worker at the Belvidere Chrysler Assembly Plant on June 28, 1965, where he proudly devoted 36 years to the company. There wasn’t a job in that plant he couldn’t do. He was a member of UAW 1268. Tim was a true outdoorsman, and an avid fisherman, never missing an opportunity to out fish his buddy, Brad, in Black River Falls.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Key; his children, Timothy (Theresa) Key and Angela (Gary) Young; his grandchildren, Hailey Young, Tayden, Timothy, and Taylor Key; his sister, Kathleen (Gary) Peterson; nephew, Thomas (Laura) Peterson; niece, Heather (Don Lester) Peterson; several cousins, many wonderful friends, and his beloved dog, Baby. Predeceased by his parents, and sister, Heidi Ann Johnson.
A special thank you to his caretaker, Nick, and all of the dedicated staff at Hospice of America and Peggy O’Connor from the ALS Association for all of their outstanding care and compassion.
Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Hospice of America appreciated. Express online condolences at www.fitzgeraldfh.com
