Thomas "Tom" R. Gray

Thomas “Tom” R. Gray, 80, of Rockford, passed away on June 20, 2023. He was born on November 24, 1942, in Rockford, the son of Clarence and Ellen (McKinley) Gray. He graduated from West High School in 1960. Tom married Georgia Try on September 10, 1965, in Rockford, and she preceded him in death on January 3, 2012. He worked as a Teamster Union Truck Driver in the local Rockford area. After retirement he worked for Hack’s Auction, where he enjoyed buying yard sticks and $1 junk boxes. He had a passion for old cars and motorcycles and enjoyed driving anywhere. Tom was known for his sense of humor, integrity, and historical memory. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Tom is survived by his children, Sandy (Joel) Kleckler, Kathy (Chris) Burch, and Tom (Jamie) Gray; grandchildren, Craig (Alisha), Sarah (Matt), Keith, Karleen (Tyler), James (Trisha), Brody, and Audrey; 7 great grandchildren; sister, Carol Gray; and friend, Marge. He is predeceased by his parents; wife, Georgia; son, Steve ; sister, Dolly Miller; and brother, William “Bill” Gray.
