Thomas "Tom" Dale Raney

Thomas “Tom” Dale Raney, 83, of Avon Park, FL, formerly of Byron and New Milford, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2022. He was born on November 12, 1938, in Rockford, the son of Oscar B. and Elmira M. (Swick) Raney.

He worked as a cement finisher for Lamont Emery Construction and John Freed Construction. He served in the U.S. Air Force for three years. He married Joyce E. Reno in Rockford on May 28th, 1960. Together they were married over 30 Blessed years, residing in New Milford. Joyce predeceased Tom on February 9th, 2009. He then married Mary Lobb on February 21, 1993, in Las Vegas, Nevada another 30 Blessed years. They were longtime residents of Byron before moving down to Florida. Tom was a member of the Baptist Church growing up, and once a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. He was an avid Dancer and Softball player. He loved to water ski and was a member of the Rockford Ski Broncs. He is a family man, who devoted his time to his children and grandchildren. They spent many years camping at Lake Koshkonog in Wisconsin, with his whole family.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Darcy (Eddie) Foreman and Christopher (Adela) Raney; stepchildren, Brian (Kellie) Clark and Mashele Fillmore; grandchildren, Justin (Alyxandra) Foreman, Alexi Raney, Andrew (Sara) Clark, Melissa (Brandon) Conkwright, Samantha Fillmore and (Austin) Joshua Fillmore, Michelina Clark and (Jerome) Jessica (Clark) Acrees and Houston. Great grandchildren Zeke, Finn, and Wrenlee Foreman, and Chase Aschenbrennor and 7 more; brother and best friend, John “Jack” (Judy) Raney; sister, Beverly (Benjamin) Miles; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents; first wife, Joyce; son, Bradley Raney; grandson, Beau Bradley Foreman; siblings Lenoa Martin, Kenneth Raney, Melvin Raney, Robert Raney, Virginia Raney, and Carol Lynch. Mother-in-law, Ann Davis.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 7th, 2022, at 11:00 am, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 3910 N. Rockton Avenue Rockford 61103. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
