Thomas "Tom" A. Mcknight

Thomas “Tom” A. McKnight, 60, of Rockford passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018. Born May 2, 1957, in Rochelle, the son of Kenneth and Leila (Rippentrop) McKnight. Tom graduated from Stillman Valley High School. He married Teresa “Teri” Frank on September 5, 1996. Tom was a Testman for UTC Aerospace, formerly Sundstrand, retiring August 2017 after 39 years and a member of UAW Local 592. Tom was an avid bowler since he was 16, he also enjoyed the Sundstrand golf and softball leagues. Tom was a Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs and NHRA drag racing fan. He loved fireworks, cooking, birdwatching and going on vacation to Missouri. Tom was a longtime member of the Eagles Club #392 and SMSF Club.
Survived by wife, Teri; children, Matt McKnight and Katie McKnight; grandchildren, Nora and Adriana; mother, Leila McKnight; sister, Marcia (Greg) Bankes, niece, Amanda Bankes, nephew, Jason Bankes and beloved dog, Bailey. Predeceased by infant son, Thomas Paul, father, Kenneth “Dink” McKnight and sister, Nancy McKnight.
Funeral service will be at noon on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Road.
