Thomas J. Day

Thomas "Tom" Jordan Day, 73, of Belvidere, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2009, in his home. Born March 17, 1936 in Berwyn, IL; the son of John and Marion (Matthews) Day. He married Patricia "Pat" Kowalsky on December 4, 1960 in Oak Park. Served in the U.S. Army. In the late 1960s he was co-owner of John Day Shoes in Rockford, then worked in the Hoover Division of Maytag as regional sales manager. Survivors include his wife, Pat; daughter, Martha (Roger) Kamp; granddaughters, Rebecca Kamp and Danielle Kamp; mother, Marion Day; sister, Carol Horley; nieces and nephews, Diana (Chip) Swenson, Kim (Gerry) Bojarski, Jaymee (Randy) Robinson, Rob (Lois) Horley, Will (Melaine) Horley and Peter Horley. Predeceased by his father; brother, John; niece Susan Harrison; brother-in-law, Robert Horley. Funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, August 3, 2009 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, IL 61108. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10-11am Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established at a later date.
