Thomas G. Krause

Thomas G. Tom Krause, 78, of Rockford, passed away Saturday August 27, 2011, in his home.nbsp; He was born January 25, 1933, in Beloit, WI, the son of George and Marjorie (McIntyre) Krause.nbsp; Tom married Joyce A. Remy in Beloit on June 11, 1955, and moved to Rockford in 1961. He was devoted to his family and friends, was a passionate and gifted photographer and loved training and caring for his schnauzers earlier in his life.

He founded Beloit Photo in 1950, after graduating from Beloit Memorial High School where he was actively involved in their class reunions up until recently. Tom continued a successful career in photo finishing, retiring from Qualex Corporation in 1992 as a Senior Vice President. Throughout his career and after, he valued and nurtured relationships with his colleagues which continued to this day.nbsp; Tom was an active member at St. Marys Oratory, an apostolate of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest.nbsp; He loved the Latin Mass and supported the church in many ways, including acting as class photographer for St. Marys small school.

Survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Joyce; his sons, Tim (Marta) Krause of Moscow, Russia and Mark (Heather Schermerhorn) Krause of Napa, California; grandchildren, Maura and Avril Krause; and many nieces and nephews including Mary Masterson and Denise Szewczykowski . Predeceased by his parents, brother, Charles and sisters, Kay and Mary.

Funeral Mass will be 9:00am, Thursday, September 1, 2011, at St. Marys Oratory, 517 Elm Street, Rockford, 61102. Visitation from 5:00pm until 7:00pm, Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd, Rockford, with the Rosary recited at 6:30pm.nbsp;Burial in Linwood Cemetery in Dubuque, Iowa The family requests that memorial donations be sent to St. Marys Oratory in the name of Tom Krause.
