Thomas Edward Tiesman

Mr. Thomas Edward Tiesman, age 92, passed away Monday, March 2nd, 2020.

Thomas was born November 17, 1927 to the late Clause and Hilda Tiesman. He was one of 10 siblings. He was a proud graduate of the Illinois School for the Deaf in Jacksonville, in 1947. Thomas was a kind spirited, loving husband, father and friend to all. He was loved by all. He was a great bowler with a 190 average. He was also a loyal Chicago Cubs fan and earned his own spot in the Illinois School for the Deaf “Hall-of-Fame” for being an outstanding Baseball player. He was a hard worker and worked 40 years for Ingersoll in Rockford as an inspector where he and his wife Mary Jo worked side by side. There wasn’t much Thomas couldn’t do, from electricity to carpentry work, he did it all.

He is survived by his wife Mary Jo Tiesman of 45 years; children Sheila Hartigan, Darlene Hohlfelder, Brenda Amans, Sally Tiesman and Susan Watson. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 13th, 2020 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, in Rockford, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, memorials and donations may be directed to the Illinois School for the Deaf in Thomas Tiesman’s name or Alexian Brothers Hospice Residence in Elk Grove Village.
