Thomas E. Streit

Thomas Streit, 73, Rockford, reunited with his wife on Friday, August 17, 2012. He was born on September 5, 1938; the son of Charles and Birdena (Carey) Streit. Tom attended Rockford Public Schools and graduated from West High in 1956. He married high school sweetheart, Karlene Vickroy and together they shared 53 years until her death in 2008. Tom worked for Barnes Drill for over 45 years until his retirement. He then began working for Hennig Corp as a consultant engineer. Tom was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved get togethers with his entire family and will be remembered for his sense of humor and loving ways. He enjoyed watching tv game shows, especially, Wheel of Fortune. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing cards. He was also a fan of Dale Earnhardt Jr. and the Chicago Bears. He was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, the Eagles Club, Gpac and the Belvidere Moose Club.Tom is survived by his daughter, Karen (Tony) Naramore; sons, Jeff Streit; Scott T. Streit; brothers, Richard (Jean) Streit and Fred (Anne) Streit; grandchildren, Karl, Andrew, Matthew; great grandchildren, Lilly and James. Predeceased by parents; wife, Karlene; brothers, Charles and James; sister, Doris Mae; grandson, Michael Naramore.Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church 2300 Bell Avenue. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 20, 2012 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. Visitation will also be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday at the church. To
