Thomas C. Condon

Thomas C. Condon, 88, Rockford, died Monday in his home surrounded by his family. Born February 23, 1924 in Rockford, son of Clifford and Lola (Hanger) Condon. Graduated from East High School in 1942 and attended Carroll College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Married Bettie Mae Herndon on March 15, 1950 and farmed the Condon family farm his entire life. He had previously been affiliated with Kishwaukee Presbyterian Church for many years. He was a member of Byron Masonic Lodge No.274, Tebala Shrine, and the Winnebago County Farm Bureau. He loved farming and loved his border collies. Survivors include his son, James Condon; daughters, Nancy (Condon) Applegate (Fred), Carol (Condon) Maples (Robert) and Laura Condon; grandchildren, Jason Applegate, Dan Applegate, Laura Applegate, John Maples, Thomas (Samantha) Maples and great grandchild, Tylar Applegate. Predeceased by his wife Bettie on December 4, 1978, his parents and his sister, Colleen Peacock.A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2012 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Road with Rev. Randy Young officiating. Burial in Kishwaukee Cemetery.
