Thaddeus "Ted" J. Dutkiewicz

Thaddeus “Ted” J. Dutkiewicz, 68, of Rockford, went to be with our Lord and Savior, Wednesday, August 19, 2015, with his family at his side. Born in Chicago on August 13, 1947; to parents, Henry and Adeline (Garstka) Dutkiewicz. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1966-1968 in South Korea. Ted married his loving wife, Kathleen Knowlton, on April 29, 1972; in Chicago, IL. He was actively involved with the Boy Scouts, serving as Scout Master for Troop 139 at Holy Family Church, and a devout member of St. Bridget Catholic Church. Ted worked as the Revenue Manager for the City of Rockford; and was a regular volunteer for 10 years at the Rockford Rescue Mission. He loved hockey, especially the Blackhawks and the Ice Hogs; he was Captain of his hockey team at U of I, as well as his high school team. Ted enjoyed life, and was blessed with the love of his family and many friends. He will be missed dearly.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Dutkiewicz; children, Matthew (Jamie) Dutkiewicz, Michelle (Robin) Gordon; brother, Raymond (Kathleen) Dutkiewicz; granddaughter, Callie Lyn Gordon; “adopted” daughter, Heather (Jim) Schneider; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special thanks to Heartland Hospice, especially RN Lisa and CNA Stephanie, for their gentle care.
Ted is predeceased by his parents; and his Busia, Mary Garstka.
A Memorial Mass will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 29, 2015; at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Ave., Loves Park, IL, 61111. Visitation will be 5 to 7 PM, Friday, August 28, 2015; at the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel; and 10 AM prior to service on Saturday at Church. Burial will be at Arlington Cemtery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, or to the Boy Scouts of America.
