Sylvia J. Stanfa

Sylvia J. (Stevens) Stanfa, 80, of Machesney Park, passed away of a sudden illness, on Thursday, January 20, 2022. She was born June 22, 1941 in Dixon, Illinois, the daughter to Richard and Carmen (Baker) Stevens. Sylvia married Cyrus Stanfa on February 4, 1961, they have been happily married for 61 years. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading and was a member of the Womanspace Choir. She worked as a Nurses Assistant at the Rockford Clinic. She loved spending time with her family, and is a loving wife and grandmother who will be missed by all!
Sylvia is survived by her husband, Cyrus; daughters Joni (Stanfa) McQueen and Diana (Stanfa) Couture; grandchildren, Logan (Julia) McQueen, Maddison (Tobey) Williams and Ian Couture; siblings, Jerry (Katie) Stevens and Barb (Peter) Giolitto; brother-in-laws, Don Odens, George Elms, Craig Miller, Sammy (Chris) Stanfa, Peter (Cindy) Stanfa, and Nick (Ead) Stanfa; sister-in-law, Jeannie (Tim) Hussey; many nieces and nephews; and special friends Joe and Shirley Battaglia. She is predeceased by her parents, sisters Carol Miller, Gloria Odens, and Ruth Ann Elms.
A funeral service will be on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 11:00 am at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, Illinois 61108. A visitation will be held prior to the service, starting at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation, Salvation Army, Wounded Warriors Foundation, or the Rockford Food Pantry.
