Sylvia Elaine Bender passed away at her residence in Caledonia, Illinois on November 4, 2024, at the age of 91. Born on February 2, 1933, in Moline, Illinois, Sylvia spent her life dedicated to her family, career, pets, and creative passions.

Sylvia was a beloved mother, grandmother, and accomplished professional. Her professional journey was one paved with success and leadership. Throughout her distinguished real estate career, she became a top-selling realtor in Rockford, Illinois. She served with distinction as President of the Rockford Area Board of Realtors and held senior leadership positions at Whitehead Realtors and Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate Services in Oak Brook. Sylvia's professional accomplishments reflect her tireless work ethic and passion for the industry. She left a legacy of motivation and excellence, inspiring colleagues and clients alike.

A woman of many talents, Sylvia was also an accomplished pianist and artist. Despite her numerous professional successes, Sylvia's greatest joy and priority remained her family. Sylvia is predeceased by her husband and lifelong love, James Bender. She is survived by her daughters, Ellen (Gary) Oehlberg, Lisa (James) Peterson, and Claire (Jonathan) Brant; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jeremy) Forrester, Taylor Forrestal, and Michael Oehlberg; great-grandchildren, Max and Mia Forrester, Ellie Forrestal and Jacob Oehlberg.

Sylvia adored the companionship of the many dogs and cats that shared her life, reflecting her deep appreciation for the joy and unconditional love provided by her pets.

While Sylvia will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her, her legacy of love, and fortitude remains an enduring testament to a life well-lived. May her spirit rest in peace and continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
