Sylvia Ann Ramos

Sylvia Ann Ramos, 72, of Rockford, passed away on October 22, 2022, at home surrounded by her family. She was born on October 9, 1950, in Lytle, Texas, the daughter of Omero and Manuela (Gamboa) Chapa. She married Enrique Ramos in 1972.

Sylvia was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs. She enjoyed going to the casino and playing cards with her family. She loved to cook, and she was well known for her tacos and homemade hot sauce. She was an active volunteer within the community and local churches. Sylvia raised many children that attended McIntosh Elementary. She Volunteered with Fiesta Hispana since the 1980’s, a nonprofit organization. She enjoyed many camping trips with her family. Sylvia was a loud and charismatic woman who was the life of the party but loved spending time with her family. She was a loving wife, mom, grandma, and great grandma.

She is survived by those who love her most, her husband, Enrique; children, Andrew Ramos, Robert (Dalana English) Ramos and Melissa (Demarous Spates) Ramos and Michelle Ramos; granddaughter, Jasmine Muhammed; great grandchildren, Amadi and Asadi Muhammed; best friends, Sandy Stamps, Maria Reyes, and Loris Favors; brother, Homer Chapa; sister-in-laws, Sheri Chapa and Rebecca Chapa; nieces and nephews, Manuel, Heather, Rhiannan, Martin, Annalee, Natalie, and Little Homer; great nephew, Blake; great niece, Oakley; and many more family members. She is predeceased by her parents, sister, Sandy Michel, and brother, Manuel Chapa.

A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, November 4, 2022 from 5:30 – 7:00 pm at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, IL 61108.
