Susan Mary Blue

Susan Mary Blue, 69, passed away peacefully in her home on February 1, 2023. Born in Rockford, Illinois on October 9, 1953, daughter to Perry Kessling and Judith (Hawkins) Standard. A 1971 graduate of Guilford High School she went on to work as a pharmacy technician for over twenty years at Walgreens, then went on to the OSF pharmacy at the hospital. Susan was the type of person to make her work environments feel like ‘home’ and loved to be at work. When she wasn’t there, she enjoyed gardening and being with her grandkids. In the last stage of her life, she fought as hard as she could against her T-PLL Leukemia diagnosis. Susan was a strong, beautiful mom, nana, sister and friend.

She will forever be missed by those who loved her most, her children Maggie (Mike) Sessler, Sarah Redieske, Mike Blue and Ross Blue; her grandkids Vivianne, Maverick, Corbin, Logan, Sebastian, and Julian; her siblings Julie Derouin and Dale Kessling. She is predeceased by her children Reece, Bryce and James Blue as well as her parents.

Cremation rites have been accorded by Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, Illinois 61108. A celebration of Susan’s life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, there is a GoFundMe posted for Susan, link listed below.
