Susan M. Castle

Susan Marie Castle, 85, of Rockford, IL passed away Tuesday July 13, 2021. She was born February 18, 1936 to G. Harold and Marie (Fieberg) Sigwart. She attended Arlington Hts. High School, Harper Community Junior College nursing program and Northern Illinois University to obtain her nursing degree. She later worked at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge and then completed her Master’s degree. She went on to work at St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford as a Clinical Oncology Specialist. She was intelligent, compassionate and devoted to those patients she cared for.
Susan married Raymond Castle in 1970 uniting a family of 5 siblings. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Survived by her children, Anita (Randy) Timm and Dan (Sonny) Metzler; step-children, Bill Castle, Alice Hidaka and Bobbie Philbrook; brother, John (JoAnn) Sigwart; 11 grandchildren (in the area), Erica Zerby, Michael Harris and Sarah Harris; 8 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by her parents, G. Harold and Marie Sigwart; husband, Raymond and sister, Judith Reed.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 23, 2021 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N Rockton Ave. Graveside Service Saturday, July 24, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 2501 E Euclid Ave, Arlington Heights, IL.
