Susan ""Sue"" Cero, 77, of Rockford, passed away at 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 in Rockford Memorial Hospital. Born March 16, 1930 in Mt. Vernon, IL, daughter of Joseph W. Cooper and May Bell Mather. Married Louis ""Lou"" Cero in Rockford on April 11, 1953. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and a volunteer at St. Elizabeth Center. Sue was happiest when she was with her family and friends and particularly loved cooking for them and sharing meals together. Her two granddaughters were the joy of her life. Sue ran her own hair styling business in the basement of the family home. She loved her work and her customers were also her best friends. Survivors include her husband, Lou Cero; son, Jim Cero; daughter, Laurie (Russ) Davitt; granddaughters, Kelsey Davitt and Jenna Davitt; brothers, Art Cooper, Tommy Cooper, and Lonnie Cooper; sister, Geneva Helmuth; sister-in-law, Josephine Cero; and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by, parents; brothers and sisters, Clyde, Pauline, Pearl, Harold, Rossetta, Cora, Lucille and Ruby. Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, December 17, 2007 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Rd., Rockford, with Monsignor Thomas E. Bales officiating.
