Sun Cha Bourgord, 71, of Loves Park, passed away on June 28, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Born in South Korea on December 5, 1949 daughter to Jae Duk and Bok Rye (Ha) Cho. When Sun Cha was in her early elementary school years, because of the time era, she was taken out of school very early and had to work to help provide for her family. This is where her remarkable, tenacious, hard work ethic was created. She met the love of her life, Roger Bourgord and they wed in Rockford, Illinois on October 20, 1973. She kept the work ethic that had been created in South Korea and she started work as a nurse at a local hospital, then moved to various jobs before finally retiring at Barber-Colman after working there for over twenty years. All the while she raised her kids and because of her children, her ambitions rose; everything she did she made sure was for them. She made sure they were in Catholic schools, made it to all of their extracurricular activities, and had a few small fun adventures along the way. When she could, she loved to travel. She started traveling back to South Korea to see her family in 1985, and made a few trips to different states in the United States. Later in her life once her grandchildren were born, she found new love in helping raise grandchildren, often taking some over the summer, or honestly any of them whenever she could. Her favorite thing to do was to pamper them in ways she wasn’t able to for her own kids, and she found pride in that ability. In her free time, she also enjoyed to garden with her husband or spending time with her friends
She will be missed by those who loved her most, her husband of 47 years, Roger; her children Hui Sun Furlong, Victoria (Gary) Noll, Rosanna (Brian) Pierce, and Keowoon Cho "Gomo, thank you for taking care of me. I will never forget the sacrifices you have given for me. I love you and thank you. Sincerely, Your 맥감보이 "; her beloved grandchildren Ronan, Brendan, Evelyn, Darrien, Tristan, Kendra and Logan; her siblings Suk Jong (Byung Bok) Cho, Sun An Cho, Mi Sun Cho and sister in law Kyong Hwa Kim; numerous nieces, nephews and beloved friends. She is predeceased by her son in law Ciaran Furlong, parents and brother, Gop Jong Cho.
