Cherry Valley- Her loving family was saddened by their sudden and untimely loss of their dear mother, mother-in-law and grandmother on Aug. 10, 2009, the day she departed this earthly life to join eternal peace with the Lord, after a sudden illness. Born Feb. 27, 1925 in Rockford, the daughter of Anthony and Josephine Cannella. She attended Rockford Public Schools including, Kishwaukee Elementary and Lincoln Middle School and graduated from East High School in 1944. She worked in the Payroll Dept. of Greenlee Brothers. Sue Married Blaise Gagliano on Sunday, Sept. 21, 1947 and moved to New Orleans. Later she moved back to Rockford in 1971. Sue was an election judge for several years in Rockford. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. She had a lifelong passion for cooking up a storm and feeding family and friends to their fullest. She also had a passion for gardening, doing ceramics, loving animals, being involved in her grandchildrens lives and supporting her family. She enjoyed being taken out to eat at restaurants, spending time with family, donating to charities and shopping at Bergners, Kohls and the infamous QVC. Survivors include her two dear sons, Al (Beth) and Anthony (Lori) Gagliano; three loving grandchildren, granddaughter, Toni Gagliano and twin grandsons, Adam and Bryan Gagliano. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband Blaise; her parents; a brother and an infant sister. The family would like to acknowledge Dr. Willard Moore and staff, Rockford Memorial Hospital IV therapy department, Karen from Visiting Nurses and the other professional medical staff who took great care and interest with our Mother and Grandmother during her illness. Funeral Mass Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with Franciscan Friars officiating. Interment in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation Friday, Aug. 14 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with a rosary to be recited at 8 p.m. Visitation continues on Sat. in church from 9-9:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorials to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Masses said in her name to The Padre Pio Foundation, 463 Main St , Cromwell, CT 06416 (www.padrepio.com).
